Daylily Judy
Farquhar Description: Judy Farquhar
introduced by P. Stamile in 2006. 7 ½" x 4 1/8"
x 2 ¼" inch blooms on 34 inch scapes. 4-way branching. 20 buds. Angel wings.
"Like them big? Our friend Judy Farquhar does and she picked this beauty to
be named for her. As one of our largest flowers, I have measured first
blooms at 8 ½" and petals at over 5" in width. Each petal was bigger than a
lot of daylilies. The flowers start the season as a peach pink but slowly
the peach shade mutates more into a spun sugar pink. Huge 1 - 1½" angel
wings are characteristic of JUDY. The form is exceptionally flat with little
to no flaring or recurve. The substance is excellent. The scapes are strong,
erect and branched. As a parent it produces exceptionally large flowers –
some with horns and tentacles to 1" in length and many with angel wings. An
absolutely phenomenal flower." Fertile both ways. Early morning opener.
extended blooms. Very Fragrant.
