Daylily Hurricane
Swirls Description: Hurricane
Swirls introduced by P. Stamile in 2006. 6" x 3" x 2 inch blooms on 36 inch
scapes. " 5-way branching. 35-40 buds. Angel wings. "This was hands down the
visitors’ favorite this year. Folks flocked around it marveling at the way
the angel wings swirled the color of the edge, which can either be gold or
more usually white, onto the surface of the flower. The entire flower was
swirled with either gold or white. Unfortunately, what the visitors did not
see was that after several weeks the flowers settled down to a very pleasant
purple with a gold or white edge, right up to the rebloom. When rebloom
came, HURRICANE SWIRLS again showed its namesake "hurricane swirls" for the
first half of the blooms. An amazing flower which consistently shows this
swirling angel wings every year but only on the first half of the blooms,
but is none the less a very pretty flower in any form it shows." Easily
fertile both ways. Fragrant. Early morning opener. |
